Health Information Technology
This program is designed to meet the increasing need for professionally trained Health Information Technicians in acute care hospitals, clinics, long term care, and other health care facilities as well as governmental and private agencies. The two-year A.S. degree program provides emphasis on record storage and retrieval, quantitative analysis, coding and abstracting, legal aspects of health records, health care statistics, supervision of department personnel, and an introduction to quality assessment, utilization review, and risk management.

Career Options

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), in cooperation with the American Health Information Management Association's Council on Accreditation. Graduates of the program are eligible to write the national accreditation examination of the American Health Information Management Association, and upon passing this exam become designated as an RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician).
